Red is the foundation of makeup, it's lips and fingernails. Red is a noble color, the color of a precious stone -- rubies -- as well as the color of danger, and sometimes you have to play with danger. Red is a religious color, it's the color of blood, the color of royalty, Phadedra and so many other heroines. The red of fire and the red of battle -- red is a battle between death and life. - YSL



We all need a little bit of danger. A bit of fire. Rebellion. 

I am very lucky to live in such a beautiful city. I only had to drive a few minutes to this beautiful field. (it is actually the back part of a rugby field). Right before I shot these I was looking at some of my favorite art by Kees Van Dongen and Gustav Klimt. I have also been studying the work of Paul Poiret. I think that those influences came out in these photographs. I really like wearing this dress. Clothes really are like armor for every day life. It is amazing how a dress can make you feel. Or how you can be transported to a time or place by putting on a particular outfit.
