My eye immediately caught this dress. This is one of those dresses that is easy to wear and makes you feel your best. The cut drapes nicely and it moves as you move.
available here
worn with Acne Studios heels
I fell in love with this jacket the moment I saw it. I love traditional Ukrainian clothing and this jacket is definitely inspired by that. The colors, the embroidery, the sleeves... the detail is amazing.

This Elizabeth & James blouse immediately caught my eye. I love the cut. I paired it with these Derek Lam 10 Crosby skinny pants & Acne Studios heels.

All last week I talked about my love of basics. But what my love of basics is rooted in in my love of classics. The things that we will have forever. The pieces that stand the test of time. Good design and quality materials will always be in style. When I was in Ireland a few weeks ago I was on a mission to find a classic cable knit sweater. It is safe to say I have been living in this Irelands Eye sweater the past few weeks and I will continue to do so. When I got home I knew I had to research the company. I love to know the story behind what I wear. While I was reading about Irelands Eye I was so captivated by the O'Sullivan's story of how their father started knitting their sweaters in the garage of their Dublin home. I love the inspiration drawn from the landscape of Ireland. You can feel it when you wear one of their pieces. I love classic design, design that has roots and love.
These pants are from... Victoria's Secret about 6 years ago. Nobody believes me! I was on a desperate hunt for blue velvet pants late at night and then I found these. They fit me perfectly. I'm also a big fan of turtlenecks. This is one of my favorite outfits. I'm wearing my trusty Acne Studios Star boots as well.
Something about this outfit made me want to put on Pulp and have a dance party. So I'm off...
sunglasses are Free People available here
I had never noticed this sign outside of the Carver Theatre / Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame until the other day. I couldn't wait to go back. While we were there we met a very nice man who let us take a peek inside because he saw us taking pictures. Sometimes I feel funny when strangers see me taking pictures but most of the time they strike up a conversation. And then it leads to something really cool. But on to jazz and Louis...
I've loved Louis Armstrong since I was little. Thanks to my Grandmother who taught me everything from how to act at the table to how to act at the theatre. Her and my grandfather where championship swing dancers for a long time and she has the best taste in music. They used to go to New Orleans all of the time and once they went to see Louis Armstrong. While they were at dinner before the show my grandmother heard a huff and grunt from the back of the restaurant...and she looked back and it was Louis himself. Surrounded in a cloud of smoke eating alone in corner before the show.
This is why grandparents are the coolest. I spend a lot of my time with my grandparents and older people in general. They have the best stories. So many stories that don't even sound real sometimes. Maybe I'll share some more on here. They are endless wells of knowledge.
Do you have any cool stories from your grandparents? Let's talk.
I'm usually wearing black. My blog has given me motivation to step out of my usual uniform but all black will forever be my favorite. I'm wearing a cashmere turtle neck, Reformation button front skirt, & Acne Studios 'Star' boot.
I've been wanting to share some things recently and last night these words came out...
Since I started my blog I've debated about how personal I wanted to get. What the line was going to be. I very consciously don't post certain things for a reason. I know there is no way we can know someone completely just through their social media accounts but I want to be conscious of the image that I'm putting out into the world. I'm a private person my nature but I feel like there are some things I need to share on here.
I've struggled with comparison and insecurity for a long time. I was recently reading some old journal entries and I was thinking about how far I've come. I know we can't control how others see us but I hope that through my blog I can encourage you to find your own personal style and inspirations. My style is something that I have clung to as a protection. For me the way I dress is an expression of myself and also an armor for every day life. Clothes mean something different to all of us. Being creative and self-expression all come out in different ways. Don't rob the world of your gifts. I feel very blessed to be able to have a blog and to have people around me who support me and take their time to help make this possible for me. To a lot of people a fashion or style blog can seem futile. I don't see if that way. My blog has helped me heal and continues to help me heal. My dog, Louis, passed away suddenly while I was out of the country in January and it has been extremely hard for me. Having this creative outlet has been a joy and a blessing. There are other things that I would rather not talk about but it helps with those as well. Maybe one day I'll share my whole journey but for now... that's it. Just remember nobody is perfect. Be yourself.
One of my favorite items to get at a thrift store is 100% silk blouses. I don't think I ever leave a thrift store without one. I found this one a few weeks ago and I love it. Everything I'm wearing is vintage except for my jeans and shoes.
What are some of your go to thrift store items?
Jeans are Citizens of Humanity available here
Shoes are Acne Studios available here (major sale!)
How great are these pants?! I have been on the search for some high waist black flares for a long time and I could never find ones that fit me right. I took a chance on these from Zara and I am so happy.
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. I know that this has been one of the best for me in a while. I met up with some friends for Church and then we went to lunch at one of my favorite Cafes.
If you are being dragged down by something negative, let it go. If you want to do something, try. Do something today. Even if it is small or for only a few minutes. Make time for what you love.
I'm wearing
Zara pants
Free People Blouse
Leather Jacket from the markets of Florence
Ray-Ban Sunglasses
Acne Studios Boots
