I love a good chunky knit sweater. My mom and grandmother always wore Johnstons of Elgin sweaters growing up and I snagged this one. I always get excited when the seasons change and I can wear it again. These are some of my favorite shoes. Sergio Rossi does a great job and these chocolate suede pumps are a classic.
Most all of the jewelry I wear has a story and meaning behind it. They are almost amulets to me. A constant reminder of love. These two necklaces are very special and close to my heart. They were bought within a week of each other but my life changed drastically in that week. The longer necklace is a cast of a rosebud. Roses are my favorite flower and they remind me of being a child wandering through my grandmother's amazing back garden. The necklace was designed by Chupi, a wonderful Irish jewelry designer. I knew when I was wandering around Dublin that I was going to find the perfect tiny necklace to bring home with me. A piece of Ireland that I could have with me at all times. Ireland and its people hold a very special place in my heart. And I can't wait to return in just a few days. The shorter necklace is a tiny L for my tiny dog Louis who passed away suddenly while I was in Ireland. It felt like my world had crashed when I found out. He was my son. My heart. My dad had the necklace made for me as a part of my healing. I wanted something to have on me at all times. The necklaces are a reminder that the ones we love never really leave us. That goes for our experiences as well. All of our memories in the places we love, with the ones we love...they are very real. Memories are precious.
I love a good pair of trousers. I got these from Zara a few months ago and it has just been too hot to wear them. I'm so glad the weather is finally cooling off.
I've been talking with a friend about how much we dress is connected with how we feel. If I'm not comfortable in what I am wearing I start to have anxiety and on the reverse if I feel good in what I am wearing it totally changes my day. The way we dress is an extension of our inner self.
Fever dream hallucinations of memories that aren't mine. Drowning in a sea of hot tea. I felt like I had finally gotten to rest. Like my brain got a reboot. Not everything was about inspiration. Everything wasn't an assignment. I faced things that I had been trying to avoid through work. In the words of Bob Dylan... 'I need a dump truck, baby, to unload my head' or maybe I just needed a fever. Sometimes staying busy isn't the therapy I thought I needed. Sometimes it is rest. I feel the rays of the sun in my bones. Or maybe it's the magnesium pills. Whatever it is I feel like I'm back.
I recently filled out a list of my Essentials over at Rugged & Fancy. Check it out here. Thanks again to Morgan for featuring me on the site!
I've been sick for almost a week now and I feel like I'm going a bit crazy. I feel like I've been in some sort of fever dream for the past few days. Being forced to rest has given me time to reflect on a lot of things. I've been forced to rest. And for that I am thankful. We all need to take some time to slow down.
We happened upon this old Bentley and and old Rolls Royce earlier this afternoon while driving around. I really love old cars. When I was growing up we had 2 cherry red 1965 Mustangs that we would drive around. I once had a dream that John Lennon and I were in the back of a white Rolls Royce driving through the English countryside making funny faces at each other. That was the whole dream.
I've been sick since Monday and in-between fever dreams, Harry Potter Marathons, and drowning in a sea of hot tea I've been scouring for inspiration.
(1) Daria Werbowy on Beauty, Health, & Wellness on the Coveteur
Daria is one of my favorite models. I love her honesty and reading about her life in Ireland.
(2) Vanessa Paradis interviewed by Patti Smith from Interview Magazine
Vanessa and Patti are two of my biggest inspirations. I love to visit this interview when I'm needing inspiration.
(3) Planning my upcoming return to Ireland with the help of Condé Nast Traveler.
Condé Nast Traveler is one of my favorite publications. I frequently am scouring their website and print magazine for trip planning and dreaming. Their Instagram is also one of my favorite accounts to follow.
(4) The amazing products of Buly 1803.
There is nothing like Buly. I might already be making my Christmas list.

Currently thinking about...
Patti Smith's new book M Train. I can't wait to pick this one up. I devoured Just Kids.
Comme des Garçons Series 3: Avignon Eau de Toilette. Described as "the scent of gothic cathedrals and Papal palaces, of tapestries imbued with centuries of incense. Of cold marble steps, holy relics and dark confessions."
Free People Newcastle Tall Boot in Snake. I've been on the hunt for snakeskin boots like this & these might be the perfect ones.
The Bianca Blouse by Realisation. The color, the cut... it is such a glamorous yet easy piece.

I miss being a student. Well I miss being the student of particular subjects. I haven't stopped the pursuit of knowledge since graduating but I miss the structure that school provided. One of the best things about a blog is the transformation of knowledge. When we find someone that we connect with we automatically have a well of knowledge to pull from. When I had my first blog a long time ago I made it for the sole reason of connecting with other people. I was going through a hard time and suddenly I found a community and a platform. This time around it is a little different but I still hold that close. I've been brainstorming more ways to connect beyond just my outfit posts and I can't wait to share them with you all.

I love this suede skirt set from Zara. I also love wearing my hair like this. I usually wear my hair in braids with ribbons at night to prevent a bad crease from a normal hair tie but I thought why not wear it like this during the day as well?
I'm having a hard time thinking of what to write with this post today. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to have my blog. There are some days where I feel very overwhelmed emotionally and physically. Today is one of those days. I have a full time job but this creative outlet is important to me. Creating keeps me up. It keeps me going. It is more than just a hobby to me. I get overwhelmed by horrible things I see going on everyday. I hope that my blog can be an inspiration to keep going and working toward your goals because that is what it does for me. My blog was a big step towards achieving goals and dreams I have for myself. I'm not going to give up and I'm going to continue to challenge myself with content. I want to encourage you to do the same. Whatever it is. You may not be where you want to be but push through those hard days and you will be.
I often think of The Red Shoes when I think about creativity. Or the compulsion to create. No matter how much you might want to rest...you can't take the shoes off.

I've got a lot of ideas in my head that I want to share.
