I'm drawn to Sonia's use of color and line. Sonia also designed textiles worn by the likes of Gloria Swanson.
More info on Sonia here.
We have to seek inspiration, it doesn't always come to you. Find something new today that inspires you. If you don't have a local museum to browse go to the library or browse the archives of the V&A .
Take a moment to enjoy something you love.
One of my favorite items to get at a thrift store is 100% silk blouses. I don't think I ever leave a thrift store without one. I found this one a few weeks ago and I love it. Everything I'm wearing is vintage except for my jeans and shoes.
What are some of your go to thrift store items?

I love wearing things in ways they were not made to be worn. This skirt is actually a poncho. I love it as a poncho as well and belted as a dress. I made another one of my Free People ponchos into a skirt and I wanted try again. I love the way that it flows. Try something new. Creativity is a muscle.
Skirt (poncho) available here
This dress is so dreamy. It has rained every day this week so I had the opportunity to try some new things with my camera. I also love how the lighting looks when it is overcast. Wearing this dress makes every day life more magical. It makes you stand a little taller.

I bought this dress for my uncles wedding about 2 years ago and I still love it just as much as when I saw it in store. I love the sea creature pattern and I like how it is more realistic that cutesy. I love aquariums and being near the ocean and when I can't be this dress is a good substitute.
My dress is Jean Paul Gaultier

Heels are Acne Studios
The is a vintage Anne Klein dress that I found in Arizona a few years ago. It is a beautiful metallic netting. It reminds me of Yves Saint Laurent's 1967 S/S African Collection. That collection is one of my favorite YSL collections. Yves is my all time favorite designer and looking through his archives is one of my favorite things to do for inspiration.
This dress reminds me of a Cy Twombly painting. Maybe I'm stretching it. But the blankness of the top and the chaos of the bottom make me think of his art.

I love the way this dress makes me feel when I wear it. I feel part Edwardian child part 1960s lady of the Canyon. I also kind of felt like Alice in Wonderland when I found this location. I had to crawl through a tunnel of wisteria and the grass was full of dandelions & tiny purple flowers. It made me crave the countryside...or even just a good book and a cup of Earl Grey.
My dress is vintage & boots are Isabel Marant.
I don't think I have mentioned my love for thrift stores on here yet. I love thrifting. I do have to be in the right frame of mind to go thrift shopping but when I am I usually come home with amazing things. This blazer is one of them. I found this about a year ago and I finally pulled it out the other day. I don't think I paid more than $5 for it either! I think I'll do a post about my thrifting tips on here soon. What are some of your favorite thrift store items that you have found?
I'm also wearing a belt as a necklace. I have been drawn to Guatemalan belts my whole life. They remind me of my mom and aunt in the 90s (if only I could find theirs). I was so excited to find this one from Free People. I also like to challenge myself by not wearing things the way they were intended. I have a Free People poncho that is now also one of my favorite skirts. (here)
Belt available here.
How amazing is this poncho from Free People? I love the way it drapes. And it kind of makes me feel like I'm wearing a cape...which is a good thing. People need to wear more capes. When I bought it I immediately thought about styling it with heels.
P.S. These are hands down the most flattering jeans I own.

The title comes from The War On Drugs song from their album Lost In The Dream. I got to see them last night and I was blown away. I will never forget it or how the opening of Under the Pressure made me feel. Go listen.
I finally found cropped jeans that look right on me. And I'm never taking them off. Again, I was in a major style-rut. I cannot even count the amount of times I've worn my black skinny jeans in the past year (sorry black skinny jeans, I love you). But I need an update and I need to stop being lazy with my day-to-day outfits. What about you? Are you feeling stuck? Try something new tomorrow. Do something that scares you even if it is just putting on a different pair of pants.
