I recently found the artist Didier Caudron while I was exploring on pinterest a few weeks ago. I was instantly drawn to his use of color and proportion. It is something that I am trying to incorporate more into my daily wardrobe. I'm dreaming of orange & playing with proportion. Didier was born in 1947 in Northern France. He is a self taught painter as well as a Doctor of Medicine.
Who has been inspiring you recently?

I realized that I have been in a style rut. I have a closet full of clothes I don't wear, tons of accessories waiting to be worn, shoes I forgot I had... And I've decided to do something about it. Sometimes it is best to go shopping in your own closet to challenge your creativity. When I was putting this outfit together I needed something comfortable and for the strange in-between season weather. This light cardigan + my trusty blazer ended up being just right.

I love the mansion-y feel of this part of Birmingham's Botanical Gardens. I have recently been reading Slim Keith's autobiography and I was inspired by old Hollywood glamour but also with a slight 70s vibe. By the way, I highly recommend Slim's book. It's a true gem. I bought these Stuart Weitzman shoes about 5 years ago when the studded clog trend was at an all time high. It's nice to see them back in circulation again.

I love the mix of this structured embroidered top with this velvet mini skirt. I love when an outfit comes together that is completely different than my original idea. I also think this top will look great with high rise cutoffs & chunky sandals in the summer.

I found this Françoise Hardy T-Shirt at Maje when I was living in New York about 2 years ago. The image is one of my favorite images of Françoise and I was so excited to find it. It is still one of my favorite things.
I love happening upon random things when I'm finding locations for pictures. This set of red seats (and broken refrigerator ? ha!) ended up being the perfect spot for this outfit. I have learned so much about my city through finding photo locations.

How great are these pants?! I have been on the search for some high waist black flares for a long time and I could never find ones that fit me right. I took a chance on these from Zara and I am so happy.
I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. I know that this has been one of the best for me in a while. I met up with some friends for Church and then we went to lunch at one of my favorite Cafes.
If you are being dragged down by something negative, let it go. If you want to do something, try. Do something today. Even if it is small or for only a few minutes. Make time for what you love.

I wouldn't have thought that I would be starting my career in Birmingham, AL but here I am. I grew up here... I never wanted to live here after high school! After college I moved to NYC for an internship and planned on staying after. I love New York and I loved living there but it wasn't right for me. I had a job, friends, and I even signed a lease on an apartment that I loved. The day I signed my lease I went back to the place I was staying and it hit me. I can't describe that moment but I knew I couldn't stay in New York.
A few weeks later and I was on a plane home. To the place I didn't ever think I would be. To the place I wrote about in my journals that I didn't want to end up after college. But I was on my way back. After months of searching and interviewing I found a job. These past (almost) 2 years since being home have been amazing. I have met amazing people, challenged myself, traveled a lot, and learned more than I ever thought I would.
Some of you might know me from my old blog. I started that blog in college as a way to meet new people. People that had the same interests and passions as I did. I loved having an outlet to express myself and I want that again. I realize now that a lot of those people I wanted to meet were right outside my door. You can live your dreams no matter where you live (you might have to move eventually), but often you don't need to go miles to find what you are looking for. Enjoy where you are. Work hard. Challenge yourself. Make it happen.
I am excited to see what the future holds and to start sharing my journey here. I still have a long way to go but you have to start somewhere.
I was so excited when Free People asked me to style this piece! I definitely had Lisa Bonet in mind as my inspiration.
Head over to the Free People BLDG25 blog to see how to style the brami. It was so cool to be included in a list with other amazing girls.
Everything else I am wearing is from Free People besides my boots which are Isabel Marant.
